Hello! The Jersey Green Room Club are excited to announce the Shrek Auditions!
Things to consider prior to auditioning:
1) First Read Through on 3rd September 2020, followed by rehearsals starting in on Thursday 10th September 2020
2) Rehearsals will likely be Mondays & Thursday evenings [19:30 - 22:00] and Sunday all day (with a possibility of added Wednesday rehearsals closer to December 2020) [Timings TBC]
3) Important dates: 20th December 2020 - 9 January 2021 (those auditioning must be available on these dates)

Everyone will be dancing to I'm a Believer, so please listen to the song and familiarise yourself with it.
You will be required to become a Jersey Green Room Club member at auditions:
Adults: £30 14-21 & Students: £15:00 Under 14's: Free (parent / guardian to join)
Audition & Membership forms will be provided on the day of auditions.
Please arrive 30 minutes before auditions to compelte an audition and membership form and make payment.
All auditions will be held at The Jersey Green Room Club (14 1/2 Val Plaisant, St Helier, JE3 4TA (Opposite St Thomas Church - the big green doors)

If you are not recalled, this does not automatically mean that you have been unsuccessful in the role you auditioned for and does not mean that you are automatically unsuccessful within the SHREK company. SHREK Character Specification
Shrek Our story's title character. A big, green, terrifying ogre who lives alone on a swamp. He embarks on a journey to rid his land of fairytale creatures and, along the way, falls in love with Fiona. Begins as a grumpy hermit, but reveals his layers and eventually becomes the hero.
Gender: Male Age: 25 to 45 Vocal range top: G#4 Vocal range bottom: A2
Fiona The beautiful princess of Far Far Away, she transforms into an ogre every night when the sun sets. Rescued by Shrek and eventually falls in love with him. Quirky, blunt, and multitalented, she is not an ordinary princess.

Donkey A talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad's guards. Quite the chatterbox, he is not deterred by Shrek's looks and practically forces himself into his good graces. Easily frightened and pushy, but also an optimistic with heart. Gender: Male Age: 20 to 35 Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: C3
Lord Farquaad The comically short, ruthless ruler of Duloc. He is in search of a princess to marry so that he can become king. Has an intensely unfair bias against fairytale creatures that stems from a resentment of his father. Self-absorbed, lonely, and cruel. Gender: Male Age: 30 to 45 Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: B2
Dragon(s) A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona in her isolated castle. She eventually falls in love with Donkey and attempts to keep him there forever. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter.

Young Fiona Young Fiona and Teen Fiona are younger versions of Fiona and should have solid singing voices.
Teen Fiona Young Fiona and Teen Fiona are younger versions of Fiona and should have solid singing voices.
Ensemble The Fairy Tale Creatures make up the heart of the show. These characters are taken from the story books but have a bit of a comedic twist. They will be proficient singers but most importantly, great actors. These roles include:

A role just right for a smaller, younger performer. He may not have lines but he is very important to the storytelling.
The leader of the fairytale creatures. He is an animated puppet whose nose grows every time he lies. Plenty of sass with a penchant for lying.

The Three Little Pigs
Pig 1, Pig 2 And Pig 3. The classic three little pigs with a German twist.
S/He may be bitter about his unfortunate appearance, but he does find camaraderie among his fellow fairy tale outcasts. This is a fun comedic role.
The Three Bears
Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear.
She has a big personality!
Big Bad Wolf
He's a pretty tame wolf who is reduced to wearing Little Red Ridinghood's grandmother's dressing gown.
The boy who never grew up, and he continues to act the part in this story.
Captain Of The Guard
Has inherent strength and authority. Has a big, booming voice and who isn't scared to put all the Fairy Tale Creatures in their place.
The Dragon's background singers who all tried at some point to save Fiona from her tower but were held hostage by the Dragon.
Other characters include: White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Humpty Dumpty, Elf, Dwarf, Three Blind Mice, Angry Mob; Happy People; Guards; Rats
Premises Manager (Committee Member) Name of Organisation: The Jersey Green Room Club
Brief Description of Activities: The Jersey Green Room Club recognizes the immense value of the Arts in Jersey. The Jersey Green Room Club produces musicals, pantomimes and plays each year at Jersey Opera House and Jersey Arts Centre. The Management Committee is made up of 14 members who control, advise and support the Club to be both artistically and financially successful. We have approximately 130 active members. All rehearsals and Committee meetings are held out our club room in Val Plaisant, St Helier.
Volunteer Position: Premises Manager (sitting on the Management Committee)
Brief Description of Duties: The Jersey Green Room Club is looking for someone to fulfil the role of Premises Manager, while maintaining an active position on our Management Committee. We meet monthly to discuss a variety of subjects such as productions, premises, business and other matters. We require a Premises Manager to ensure that our building is fit for purpose, advising on, and proactively attending to, any work that requires attention. The Premises Manager will liaise with the cleaning contractor to ensure that the club is clean and tidy, and advise the Committee of any professional or extensive work that needs to be undertaken. Duties may include (but are not limited to): checking all rooms in the building to ensure they are safe and secure; painting; routine maintenance; testing the fire alarms; ensuring that the fire extinguishers are fit for purpose; and being the point of contact for the cleaning contractor and fire alarm services.
